Nettie Vernell Cooper
Nettie Vernell Cooper
Nettie Vernell (Nell) Cooper, 88, daughter of Lee Otis Waggoner and Susan (Dixon) Waggoner, was born on June 2, 1928, in Dimmitt, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in Salem, Oregon.
Nell grew up in Dimmitt, Texas, on a farm. She was always a hard working person even as a child. She married the love of her life, Joseph C Cooper on June 9, 1946. They had 3 children. They lived in Texas where Mr. Cooper attended Bible School and they traveled some in Texas and Oklahoma where he would have many occasions to preach. Over the course of their lives, they lived in Colorado, New Mexico, California, Wisconsin and Minnesota where Mr. Cooper pastored several churches. On June 25, 1993, after 47 years of marriage, Mr. Cooper passed away. In 1995, Nell moved to Monmouth, Oregon, to be near her son, Joseph and his family.
Nell was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent time teaching her children to love her Lord and how to survive in this world. She was an active participant in church events. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She was often seen around Monmouth walking to Bi-Mart, or Dairy Queen where she would meet friends.
She is survived by her 2 sisters, Georgie Jarvis, and Mary Lou Peoples, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; her 3 children, Joseph of Independence, Oregon, Evelyn Christopherson (Ned) of Buffalo, Minnesota, and Marilyn Schouten of Lynden, Washington; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; her 2 brothers, Fred and Leo; her sister Edith; a son-in-law, Marlo Schouten, and a grandson, David Ben Cooper.
We will miss her. However, we are assured that we will see her again and that she is enjoying the rest of her eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, in Independence, OR. Please sign our online guestbook on this memorial website.
